Why don't you want to support MetaX?
I wish it were free but since they're the only ones bothering to support Windows iTunes users -- I don't feel so bad paying.

It does more than you want as it remuxes an H264 MKV to MP4... and allows you to add apple compatible tags and artwork.

Been using it since 0.219, works a treat.

Is MetaZ no abandoned? I was trying it this morning, and search (and so tagging) does nothing. What little info I find says that TagChimp is dead, and MetaZ's interface to the TVDB is outdated and broken.

Is there another free option? Are the paid taggers sold on the Mac App Store worth their price?
