Mic for Mac Pro not working??

so i went out and picked up a headset for my mac pro... i really only wanted a mic but this was the only mac compatiable thing the store had... it's some logitech product.

it says mac compatiable right on the box, but.... it won't work??

is it becuase it has stereo plugs? i've looked a little and all i can find is that mics for new macs need to be USB because they need to be powered.

can anyone help me out with getting this headset to work, or suggest a mic that will work (mic only would be perferred)? Thanks.

I'm not a mic user, but yes, you will need some sort of preamp-powered mic in order to boost the signal to the line-level of the mic input.
