Where is the microphone located on 2011 27" iMac?

That's specific for a 2011 27" iMac? I have to turn the volume all the way up so people can hear me on Google Voice.

Yep that’s specific. When you say volume, are you talking audio volume? If so they are not connected.

Can also open the Sound Preferences, click "Input" then slide your finger around the mac until you see a response of the audio level indicator.
