I've had this MacBook Air for about 1 month now and usually wear AirPods with it, and just now I noticed that the built-in microphone isn't recording anything I say.

I go to sound settings and don't even see the input volume bars moving.

I restarted the computer many times and still the same issue.

I'm on the latest MacOS 26. Not sure if this is a macOS Tahoe issue.

I have a genius appointment tomorrow about this.

Anyone experience this?

When you go to input do you see the microphone icon pop-up in the menu bar? You need to adjust the input volume slider manually I believe.
Wow, this fixed it. This is very odd because the input volume slider was already in the middle and when I moved it to the max and then back to the middle, the volume bars started moving when I began speaking.

Thank you! Must have been a bug or something.
