Hey guys i got my iPhone 4 today in the mail so far so good but a few minutes ago i randomly stumbled upon the fact that the speaker and the mic on the bottom have switched places (mic on left speaker on right) iv only had the 3gs before now so im not sure if its ever been like this or if maybe mines just a fluke? can anyone confirm?

That's what I noticed as well. Not sure why they designed it that way but iFixit's teardown shows this as well.
Oh yes, it's quite loud now. No problems hearing it and it doesn't distort at all at full volume.
