How hard is it to put an electronic touch sensor on the mouse for scrolling so we don't end up with a gummed-up, useless scroll wheel after a year of use?

In my opinion...it is the only logical evolution of the migthy mouse. Just picture today's mighty mouse but with no ball or side buttons. Just one, smooth, unobstructed surface.
It would be cool if there was a light that would tell you when you are scrolling. Also instead of having touch sensitive areas to replace the side buttons, there should be a gesture area on the "palm" area of the mouse ... that area could behave identically to a laptop trackpad with multi-fingered gestures and all when the hand is not resting on it.
yea its a really good mouse. the touch scroll is pretty sensitive, but all you gotta do is lower the sensitivity in system preferences and youll be fine.
