hey guys i was at work today and i just noticed after looking closely that there seems to be a small hairline crack on the glass over the front camera...its not outside its inside and it goes from one spot on the circle to the other... ill post pictures when i can get my hand on a decent camera tomorrow .. do you think i should ask apple for a replacement ? its small to notice but then we pay so much for these devices and expect them to be perfect...:(:(

If you push your fingernail over the camera glass, does it wobble?
Can you hear any crackling sounds?

nope.. as i said its tiny and on the internal side so its hard to even notice.. i just noticed it after a day.. im wondering if i can walk into a apple store and ask for a replacement...

I'll probably call the store and ask if they have any more in stock before driving .. the place is about 35 miles from where i live...

Having some in stock and having some available for replacements are two different things, FYI.

I had a piece of lint in the back camera behind the glass. Wasn't really noticeable unless you look closely. Had the genius guy take a look and he just swapped it out, no questions asked. Shouldn't be much of a problem.

Update

Hey guys took the phone to the apple store and they gave me a replacement, no questions asked.. its a 86028 series.. so i guess its newer than the one i gave back... :) ... this one too has the proximity sensor issue thou.. hope they come out with a fix for that soon..

Just wondering...you sure it was a crack and not a piece of hair, stray manufacturing material or some other object? You were due for a replacement regardless, but I can't figure out how a crack would form there.

nope.. it definitely was a manufacturing issue... i could clearly see the deformation in the glass

The front is one solid piece of glass, which is painted on the back before being attached to the digitizer and screen. Since the flaw is only visible in the camera hole, it is probably a piece of debris. If it was a crack, it would continue and be visible through the painted area.
