Microphone input auto-adjusts in Yahoo messenger

Hi guys,

I am using a Macbook unibody ... got it a month back. I use Yahoo Messenger a lot of iming, everything works great except that the microphone input level keeps auto adjusting ... and this is sometimes annoying to my gf as she cannot hear anything what I speak ... as the auto-adjusted level went wayyy too low.

Is there anyway to disable the auto-adjusting of the external microphone?

Btw, I'm using the earphones with clicky microphone that I got with my iPhone
