Microsoft Bluetooth Sculpt Mouse issues since upgrade

I've been using the Microsoft Bluetooth Sculpt Mouse with OS X for about 2 years with no issues until I upgraded to Sierra. Now, the mouse will be unresponsive if not used for a certain period of time. And the only way to get it to work again is to go to Bluetooth Preferences, unpair the mouse, and pair it again. I have to do this several times a day now. The batteries are fully charged.

This also happened once with the Magic Mouse 2.

Anybody else experiencing Bluetooth mouse issues?
