I expect to be gifted with a touch this Christmas. Looking at pdf manual it looks like Microsoft Calendar (replaced outlook in Vista) does not sync with the built in app! Does anyone know of an after market app or hack to sync? Seems strange that the latest operating system calendar would not be supported!

I believe you need a full copy of outlook. Even if you had XP and used outlook express it wouldn't work.
One alternative is to get a hosted exchange server (4smartphone, mail2web, etc). If they sync with Microsoft Calendar and you sync them with your iPhone, then you've sync'd your MS calendar with your iPhone.
