Scoble: Ways to talk with Internet Explorer team

I'll echo the comments of others in the web design community and say please do not abuse these feedback opportunities. If the signal:noise ratio gets out of hand web designers will most likely lose the means of any sort of meaningful feedback to MS about IE's problems.

So, please save the snide comments about how bad IE is for the forums and send MS honest, thought out and constructive criticism. :)

didn't Microsoft announce they weren't going to continue to develop IE for the Mac any more?

not being a web content person, I'm curious as to what people think the impact of future versions of IE will have on us Mac users if there isn't a Mac verions of IE?

any opinions?????

good riddance. ie is like the plague and i'm glad it's no longer being developed for the mac. what's terrible is that every time i walk into the mac lab on campus, there are all of these brand new emacs and all the kids are using internet explorer when safari and firefox are sitting right there in the dock. they don't know any better, but it hurts like hell just the same. apple is doing a disservice to it's customers and to itself by still including IE in the default install. people using macs in kiosks assume that "MACs suk at the web" because they click on the icon they know better (ie instead of safari).

EDIT: i just checked one of the forum posts and it had an interesting response from one of the developers working on IE (yes, microsoft actually started working on it again).

To set expectations, no new broad standards support is coming in months. Our dance card is full and changes of the magnitude you're proposing will require lots of testing and validation.

Per my criteria (which I'd still like to get feedback on), we wouldn't support CSS3 yet since it's still being worked through. Same for CSS 2.1.

Not much defense on the PNG transparency issue other than GDI made it hard back in the day. We really want this fixed too and are working on it. No eta yet. I'll try to update folks as we work through this. Same with other decisions.

no support for CSS2.1, yeah, nice job. so assuming that all of the security fixes ms is promising arrive in sp2, and little if any standards support will be added in upcoming months, what exactly are these guys working on? and i'm shocked that this guy has the balls to say that incorporating these standards and png support are difficult. i'm sure they are, but ms has a slew of paid employees, boundless resources, and has had quite a bit of time to solve these problems. that's like saying "yeah, we'd really like to include an email app with the os, but it's a lot of work, and we're just not sure users need that functionality right now". dillo supports pngs properly for crying out loud!

IE sux on the mac. What do you want from me.
I use Netscape 7.1 even though i've heard it's a dying breed, but at the moment it works perfect for my needs. I don't personally like Safari, not saying its crap or anything, i guess i'm just not used to it yet. Does seem a little limited compared to netscape. I like things i can control.
