Microsoft Messenger 6.0.2 out

There's been an update to their MSN client once again. Is it any good? From my experience, no.

It took 3 attempts to sign in. When I finally did, i couldn't even change the display picture before the service was apparently 'unavailable' and was signed out because of it. Strange that, seeing as Adium never has a problem with it. Now Messenger won't sign in once again. Messenger, meet uApp.

It astonishes me that the software works so badly, I've never dealt with something so buggy, on Windows or Mac, there has to be something seriously wrong somewhere.

Feel free to share any wisdom or positive experience with this new version

i downloaded it .. and it works fine for me

i didn't see any video conferancing options in it .. witch sucks .. but maybe one day they will come out with that for mac

You're quite optimistic Video conference won't be in Messenger for Mac until late 2007-early2008 IIRC when version 7 rolls out.

Sure, and it washes windows, too. It's a fix release only.

It fixed that "able to log in and chat" bug that a lot of people were having.

They're all pretty much the same size whether or not it fixes anything.

Just that, y'know, it didn't fix it Or at least not for me.

I'm not really sure why people bother with this program. When compared to Adium the only things that I think are good about it is:

1) You can see personal messages.

2) iTunes status

3) Send Custom Emoticons

Anything else, Adium pretty much does better.

Nope, doesn't work with MSN.

EDIT: However you can put a little script into your main name that will display what you're listening to in iTunes. It's quite nifty it has to be said.
