It's been often said that Google Gmail IMAP is not compliant with standard IMAP protocol, having its quirks which make it difficult to play nicely with Apple Mail. Hence, my question: how standard-compliant is Microsoft's Office 365 IMAP with the standard IMAP protocol?

-- do Office 365's IMAP folders play nicely with Apple Mail's folders?

-- when you delete an email from 365's IMAP, is it deleted, or -- just as with Gmail IMAP -- merely archived?

Are there any quirks in Office 365's IMAP that we should be made aware of?

I use outlook and it works fine with my iCloud account. I have no issues with folders or syncing. I'm not sure if that's what you're asking exactly,

I have an Office 365 email account but I can't answer the question since I have it set up as Exchange on every device and with every email client application I use (or even tried) on those devices.
