Microsoft Office Alternatives

Ok, what's the general consensus on the best alternative to Excel, PPT and Word? Is it Apple's apps or some other open source ?

I'm ready to drop the POS that is Office! I believe it to be the biggest sham perpetuated on consumers and corporate customers alike.
