Does anyone know when Microsoft Office '11 will be available via the HUP program? The download isn't available yet, but does anyone know from past history, perhaps, if Microsoft takes a while to update or not?

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm not going to spend $100+ on '11 if I can get it for $10 from work.

I can live with that. Would calling them (I'm not exactly who "them" refers to...) expedite the process at all?

No. I've tried talking to them in the past and they were not even sure they'd offer Office:Mac 2008, let alone when. At some point it just goes live on all HUP sites worldwide.

HUP Release in December

I too have been waiting for it to come out. I shot an email to Office for Mac Press (OfficeforMacPress@edelman.com), and got this back:

"Thanks for your question. Office for Mac 2011 is expected to be available through the Home Use Program in December 2010."

Cheers,

Yikes. That makes no sense that it takes that long..

Office 2010 was actually on HUP several weeks before the retail release but other Office products have been weeks or months behind in my experience ie Office 2007. Suppose we will have to wait and see but at £8.95 a pop it's hard to complain when it finally appears.

It does when you remember that the free 2008 to 2011 update expires at the end of November. This way they get an extra £8.95 out of you :p

Read the fine print before you spring $9.95 for Office 2008 in hope of getting a free upgrade to Office 2011. Copies of MS Office purchased under HUP are not eligible because they are considered volume licensed.

I got a confirmation from Digital River that Office 2011 will be coming to HUP in late December/early January timeframe.

ahh I sent an email on that this afternoon from work, I guess that's not tooo long to wait. I got the Office 2008 for Mac and Office 2010 for Windows from them so far for cheap so I'll just utilize 2010 for VBA in the interim! Still a great program

considering most people don't even use the HUP program correctly, I'd say Dec is fine. Technically, you are only allowed to get take advantage of the HUP if you've already got a work license and are using it in the office. I know so many people who use MS office for windows who get the mac version for home incorrectly according to the plan detail, and I suspect at least a few of you in this thread do as well.

The email I received said:
We understand that you would like to know when will 2011 for Mac be
available under the Home Use Program and we are glad to assist you.

Please be informed that it will be available in the year 2011 but we do
not have an update yet for the exact date.

I'm not really sure if they know what they're talking about.

They let me do it.

I can get the academic version for $99 but $10 is so much nicer.

May I make you laugh?
I asked the same thing to the HUP support and this was their answer:

Dear Alessandro XXX,

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Home Use Program online store.

We understand that you want to know when will Office for Mac 2011 be
available through HUP.

The Home Use Program only offers the most current release of Microsoft
Office available to our customers. Office 2008 for Mac is still
considered the most current release of version of Office for Mac.
