The only thing I can think of is to change the resloution of your display but this will make your whole screen look terrible. But if you need the buttons larger, this is the only solution that comes to mind.

Besides changing your resolution, you could also zoom in. Zooming is part of Universal Access -- to enable it, open System Preferences, then click on "Universal Access", and finally click "on" in the Zoom section. You can also click on the "Options" button for more fine-grained control over how the zoom works.

Why do you want to increase the size of the toolbar icons?

Nadyne.

To Corinhorn. Thanks for that & I believe you are right, but Excel v 5 around 1994 allowed buttons to be enlarged & yet 14 years later I cannot believe user options are now less. Suppose thats technology for you.

To p.luik. Yes I tried that & u r right, it looked awful. Thanks anyway.

To nadyne.Yes i think Universal access zooming is probably my best option & to answer your question when you get to 65, eyesight (amongst other things) starts fading. Must get some binoculars or a guide dog.

Anyway I appreciate all your help. Thankyou very much.
