Microsoft has released a new version of its Outlook app for iPhone and iPad that includes a new feature allowing users to remove repetitive multi-reply email threads from their inbox.

In Microsoft speak, a Conversation is the complete chain of emails from the first message through all responses, and the messages of a Conversation have the same subject.

The new feature, called Ignore Conversation, is specifically aimed at getting rid of company-wide email threads that build up in the user's inbox as other people keep replying to them.

Microsoft's release notes for version 4.36.0 of the app describe Ignore Conversation as follows:
Sick of that company-wide email that everyone is still replying all to? So are we. Stay focused on what's important by getting it and all future replies out of your inbox and straight into deleted items with our new Ignore Conversation feature.
The feature has actually been available in Outlook on other platforms for some time, but this is the first time that users accessing their emails on iOS devices have been able to use it.

Microsoft Outlook for iPhone and iPad is a free download available from the App Store. [Direct Link]

This is certainly nice to have, but Outlook Mobile has still a long way to go. Many missing features stop me from using it on a daily basis. On the Enterprise though Outlook Mobile is very good.

Could MacRumors add an "Ignore Microsoft" feature to its site?
Why? Word and Excel are both market leaders with nothing else coming close. I still run macros in the latest version of Excel that I wrote in the 1990s. Similarly, Outlook is a market leading email application, particularly in the corporate world where emails are still the main form of written communication.

Yet you still can’t turn of message line previews or sort conversations from the top. Maybe one of these days...

I switched to it because mail continues to be buggy in iOS 13. But tbh, outlook (for me anyways) seems to have the exact same issues.

Still can’t limit emails in Outlook for MacOS like you can in Windows.

It’s all or nothing which is frustrating given how many emails I have from work.

You know what would be great?

Microsoft Outlook mobile not making "Reply All" the default option when receiving emails sent to multiple people....

I gotta say. I'm really enjoying this app on iOS. Definitely my default email client (hell, between this, the work they're doing with Android and Xbox Game Pass on PC, I'm loving what Microsoft is doing right now).

The only thing that bothers me about the outlook app and the reason I don’t use it is you can’t sync all of your email like on the iOS native email client. I have a bunch of flagged emails going back years and if I try to look at them on the outlook app it needs an internet connection to sync anything older than like a month. On the iOS app I go into my flagged folder and everything is just there, no waiting on emails syncing from the internet. Until they offer the feature on the outlook app it’s a showstopper for me.

This is great but the DEFAULT reply option should be changed on the iPhone app. Reply ALL is annoying too.

Wish they would fix the duplication of emails in the apps. Send one to the trash can, it creates two. File one in its relevant folder, it creates two. Very, very annoying.

This is a nice feature. Our company announce new hires with a company-wide email, which is useful to keep with staff changes. But invariably it's followed by a flurry of "welcome" replies, none of which we need to see.

Sounds like they need to learn to use BCC

All good... I never use "ignore" myself,

but this is good for less clutter i guess.

Has anyone figured out how to ignore a conversation with this new version of Outlook? I cannot find a way to do this.

I’m still not seeing it. It must be rolling out in stages. Thanks for responding!

Where is this option? I clicked on the ... and still don’t see it!
