Microsoft powerpoint: Mac 2011 unable to save

When I try to save a MS powerpoint presentation i get a message "there was an error accessing"
I am unable to save my work.

What version are you using? The latest Version is 14.7.7. I just tried a simple one page presentation and was able to save it and then open it in PP 2016 V15.39.

I'm on High Sierra 10.13.1. It also worked when I was using Sierra.
