It appears that Microsoft won't be taking anyone to court, I think we all knew this anyway!

I don't think anybody took their threat seriously. Too many cross-licenses from so many different companies using each others patents. If M$ tried to stop Linux and OpenOffice, etc, other companies would band together and gang-rape M$ with countersuits.
