Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac problem

Hello,

Somehow, the dot bullet symbol in my Ms Word 2008 can't appear. Anyone knows how to fix this?

What's it showing instead?

It's showing a checkbox symbol instead.

However, when I opened the document with Pages, the bullet symbol appeared just fine. I also checked Ms. Powerpoint and the dot bullet appeared. When I sent the document to my friend's laptop, it also appeared fine.
