Microsoft Word 2011 - Word Count Error?

Title says it all, no word count in Microsoft Word. A bit problematic when I have to write an argument that uses an exact 350 word count else I lose a letter grade. Anyone else have this problem?

hi there, make sure u are in print view, and that the window/live word count checkbox under preferences/view/ is checked!
