I was just working on a long paper on my mac(mountain lion, 10.8.2), using microsoft office for mac 2011. Using the trackpad, I pinched out to show the desktop. When I returned, my entire paper(still open) was filled with a weird combination of windings, rectangles, english, and what appears to be Chinese(or some other oriental language-I dont know the difference). Selecting all and changing manually to Times did nothing. The computer recognizes the separate fonts but will not let me change them back. Tried copy & pasting the entire paper into text edit, same result. Tried quitting word and reopening it, no change. REbooted computer, no change.

Anyone have any thoughts on how/why this happened(so as to prevent it in the future), or how to recover the text...any help would be much appreciated!

I have been regularly saving the file to Dropbox (before and after the weird font thing). Anyway to recover it there?
