Microsoft Word:Mac Help

I used to use Neo Office, and have now finally got myself Microsoft Office:Mac.

One problem I am having though, is that when I re-save my NeoOffice documents to Word format, I can only open them in Word as read only. Basically, I can't continue my work in Word.

Am I doing something wrong or will I just have to live with this for a while?

Can you save the document in Word under a different name, then edit?

Might be a silly question but wouldn't it be possible to just 'select all' in Neo Office, open a new Word file and Paste?

Or does the document content not permit this?
