For some time I've had a problem with Word's Open dialog in both Office 2004 and 2008. If I invoke it I get the entire screen filled with a useless window that has some of the characteristics of the open dialog, but lacks others such as files that one might open. The only way to get rid of it is to drag the window down to the bottom of the screen and then invoke the force quit dialog.

Word works fine if you open files by double-clicking in the Finder and most of the time I remember to do that. I recently upgraded to Office 2008 assuming that that would fix the problem, but no, it's still there. It doesn't affect any of the other elements of Office. It's really annoying when it happens and I want it to go away.

Anyone got any ideas?
