I am using MS Word 2004, the Mac version, on my Macbook, when I open a new document it has the default page size set at US Legal, 8.5 x 14, I cannot figure out how to change the default to 8.5 x 11, US Letter, I changed it in the printer settings, but everytime I change it in MS Word, I go to File, page setup and it is ok for that document, but if I close and open a new one it goes back.

How can I change this for good?

In case anyone needs the answer I finally found out how to change it.

Solution two: Change the Microsoft Word default template
If Microsoft Word continues to default to the US Letter size, use the following steps to change the default template:

1.
Open Microsoft Word.
2.
Click File and then click Open .
3.
In the Enable drop-down menu, choose Word Templates .
4.
Browse to Users/Username/Documents/Microsoft User Data .
5.
Choose Normal .
6.
After the document opens, click File .
7.
Click Page Setup .
8.
Change the Paper Size to the preferred default paper size.
9.
Click OK .
10.
Click File .
11.
Click Save .
