Hey everyone I'm new to MacForums. I have a mid 2007 imac with 3gb if ram ( 2gb and 1 gb in each slot). The apple site says I can Mac it at 4gbs of ram. When I google other places say it can actually hold 6gb. I mainly use my max for music production. I notice the "spinning wheel" a lot so wanted to upgrade the ram before I bought a new Mac. Anyone know how much it can hold? Thanks for any answers in advance!

It can hold 6GB of 200-pin DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM, one 2 Gb and 4 GB module will do.
4 GB is just the number Apple gives, but many sources like Everymac and OWC/MacSales have confirmed that 6 GB will work.

Open Activity Monitor, after having restarted the Mac at the beginning of a work day and looking at the numbers at the end of the day, and go to the System Memory* tab and look for Page Outs and Swap used and report back.
