My sister bought a Mid 2007 Macbook, about a week after leopard came out. She has been doing some video editing and with 1gb of ram, its a little slow. If I go to Crucial's website they tell me to buy 2-1gb sticks, but then I read elsewhere it maxes out at 3gb, so can I put 2-2gb DDR2 sticks and just recognize 3gb? (I am ok with throwing that 1gb away I paid for) Also, where is the cheapest place to get it now, newegg?

I was looking for the guide, guess I did not look hard enough. So just to be clear, I will not see any adverse effects by sticking 2-2gb sticks when it will only see 3gb total?

As long as it's a mid 2007 model (core 2 duo) there will be no adverse effects. Mine is a first gen MB from 2006 and it can only accept 2GB max so I would have adverse effects :( but you're good to go.
