I know that this issue has been covered already, but I have a bit of a separate add on question.

When Im using my dedicated video card and doing gpu intensive tasks (gaming usually) I get a screen freeze and an audio loop of the last half second or so of music. It happens sporadically, sometimes not for a few weeks and other times four or five times a week. It requires a hard restart and no amount of waiting will resolve it. Ive seen it happen hours into use and sometimes right after a start up. So both low and high temps.

Ive already called apple to tell them about it, but have been told that they would have to recreate it at a repair shop. My question is whether there is some kind of terminal command or program I could use to stress test the video card to more reliably recreate the problem.

I have nightmares of sending it away and the tech person not recreating the problem, leaving me without a computer and potentially having to send it in multiple times for the same issue.

I have a great shop in my town and they will let me mess around in there, but they need to see it happen before they can either repair or replace the computer.

Oh and it only happens on the dedicated nvidia gpu, I've never seen it happen using the onboard gpu.

I just don't want to be the idiot sitting in there for hours telling them about my 'problem' and never have it manifest while Im there.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
