After Googling " Mac Book Pro hard drive cable failure" I was surprised at how many Mac Book Pro's seem to get this problem.

nd shorts on any metal surface it is resting on.From what I could gather, the underside of the cable's underside gets worn away .

Can any MBP owners confirm this ?

I'm currently upgrading a friend's MBP. With El Capitan on an internal SSD .. it won't boot ( no entry sign ).

So I put some cello tape on the underside of the cable(s) and actually got the internal SSD seen by diskutility
two or three times but there seems to be another factor involved in the non-bootup problem perhaps where the smaller of the 2 cables on the SSD side goes to the status switch.

The same SSD in an external USB enclosure boots without issue.

Any ideas to fix this problem ?

( NOTE : Would it be possible to remove the internal DVD drive and connect the SSD there ? )

Thanks in advance.
