Hey guys,
I have a mid 2009 Macbook 5.5 Pro 13"
I upgraded the ram to 8GB (Compatible Crucial) and a 250GB Samsung EVO SSD.
I also replaced the battery in it with an Anker replacement.
The computer worked fine for a while but one time it completely shut down (I think the battery went to 0 and it didn't properly shut itself down - I wasn't using it - I don't trust these batteries and try to keep them above 20%) when booting back up the computer would just stay at the loading screen forever. I was able to backup the files and format everything and install a fresh copy of El Capitan.
Worked fine for about a week, until it started randomly freezing up and giving the spinning wheel, sometimes wouldn't boot again. I checked all connections and decided to do another format and reinstall.
This time the install errored out saying it can't unpack "essentials.pkg" - I was pulling my hair out for hours until I read a post that said to take out one of the ram sticks (the installer was not happy with the upgraded ram) - which I did and it installed fine.
Again, worked for a little while and it is the same issue. Tried to install Chrome and it gave me the spinning circle forever, couldn't force quit anything. Had to do a hard power off. After that it took me 3 tries to get into the OS. Several times it would just load the bar and not go further, other time it would boot instantly into the OS and I was able to back it up once again.
Currently I am running the Apple Hardware Test on it (regular came back as fine, running Extended now)
Any ideas what I can check? (In the last OS install I enabled Trim, though it did not seem to make any difference)
Thanks in advance!
