OK,

So I opened my matchbook pro (15" mid-2009) today to start working and the password screen shows up, but there is a spinning beach ball of doom. I wait for a few minutes, then force the computer off. Now when I try to boot, after putting in my password (I am running full disk encryption) it shows the apple and the spinning wheel that says it is doing its stuff, but it just keeps doing that. It never boots up.

I put in the install disk and booted from that and it shows the internal drive as unmounted and won't mount it from disk utilities. Now I am thinking that is because of the full disk encryption, but I am not sure. Is there anyway to run disk utilities' repair on an encrypted disk from the installation DVD?

Am I just screwed here?

Well not really screwed since it is under applecare (just barely) and I have an appointment tomorrow, but I am looking for any helpful info before then so I can go in informed.

Thanks

Fixed

It was the hard drive cable. They replaced it and all is good.
