So I've got a mid 2010 15" MacBook Pro and I'm stumped. I bought it as a parts laptop and I decided to see if I could fix the motherboard issues it was advertised with.
Upon startup, the display is extremely dim. Not like, no backlight level dim, but like level 1 brightness dim. PRAM reset and SMC reset do not fix this. I was able to boot into into a Mac OS Yosemite installer, only for it to say that it could not locate the install path or something. I have not tried booting it into a hard drive with an OS yet. Despite being plugged into a known working keyboard, the keyboard appears to be non functional. The touchpad did work when I was in the installer UI. Speakers do work. When starting it, the status LED blinks about 5x (6 if you count the last blink), but after this it posts just fine. I've checked the motherboard, it does not appear to have water damage. I assume the backlight issue is because of the backlight fuse, but I can't figure out what the other issues are caused by.
