Mid 2010 17" 2.8 GHz MBP Logic Board

Hi. I have a 2015 15" MBPr and love it but this question is for my friend has an older MBP from 2010 as above and wants a new logic board. Her question is whether she can put a 2.53 GHz Logic Board into her machine because she has a 2.8 "order to custom" speed Logic Board when she bought hers. The 2.8 processor was a special customer order at the time in 2010.

Could I please ask the good people here 1. Where she can buy a good refurbed or new Logic Board and 2. Whether the Midi 2010 17" 2.53 GHz Logic Board would be fine for her Mid 2010 17" 2.8 GHz model (which is, as I know it, to be a 2.53 but with a custom 2.8 GHz order).

Looks like hers is the same as the 2.53 model exactly. Wonder also if she could put a 2.66 in there? Same logic board, just different speed processors?

I would suggest her give up her MBP.

I owned a 2011 late MBP 17". Video issue was found on Mar. 2015 and got a newly made logic board in Apple store.

On Nov. 15, 2016, the video issue happened again.

Apple still has GPU problem even on newly made logic board. So I would suggest you to check the recall plan and don't buy logic board from anywhere, it's expensive and may be broken for GPU someday.

2011 models are plagued with GPU problems but 2010 models arent? That's why 2010 and 2012 models are sought after afaik.

LOL the 2010 and 2012 models are the same GPU blowing lemons, there were an out-of-warranty repair program for 2010 models and one for the 2011-2013 models which will end this year.

What video problems? My 2010 Macbook has been flawless for six years now. I'm just saying.

2011 were affected. Only some 2010 were afaics Not hers. Gotta list of the 2010s that were?

Can ANY 2011-2013 be taken in for GPU replacement?
