Mid 2010 a1278 unibody loosing settings

HELP----I have a Mid 2010 a1278 unibody loosing settings and will not detect battery, it recently had a replacement logic board installed, it has sat idle for about 8 months before i replaced logic board, machine boots fine but will not retain wifi settings or changes made to applications, like installing firefox etc, need some help, have been repairing computers for quite a few years but am relatively new to Macs
any help would be appreciated,
