Mid 2010 bad ram slot. Need options.

My macbook was freezing when tapped on the bottom case and I figured out that it was a bad ram slot. Whenever there is a stick of ram in the slot closest to the keyboard, and pressure on the corner of the slots will cause the laptop to freeze.

Well now I'm trying to figure out my options. My laptop has 4gb of ram in it now and I wanted to upgrade to 8gb.

What options do I have for ram? I can't find a single stick of 8gb pc8500 to try out in the machine. Will faster ram work? Is fixing the slot possible?

The slot is bad, it will not work with any RAM stick, your only options are to get the Logic board replaced/repaird or install an 8GB stick on the good ram slot and leave the other slot empty. The bottom RAM slot has a higher failure rate on the 13" MBPs.

This is a 15in I'm talking about so hopefully an 8gb stick will work. I've read about issues regarding the integrated graphics and 8gb sticks.

I ordered a stick from OWC hopefully it works.
