So I got a macbook pro off ebay for 150 dollars, stated as "parts only" When I got it I assumed it was just needed ram and a hard drive, and I got it to replace my aging late 2008 unibody macbook. But turns out it suffers from kernel panics. I let the laptop sit for a while, not re-turning it as I was convinced that I could repair it myself. I finally got around to doing something with it, and I got a program called "GFX card status"
which seems to have fixed the issue. I used it for a week, then upgraded to the newest OS, I was hesitant too at first because I didn't want to upgrade to a uncompatable OS with my 08 macbook, then have the 2010 break and not be able to use the 08. So everything seemed to work fine and still is, But I noticed the serial number on the bottom of the case is for a early 2011 macbook pro 15 with a i7 cpu. and the motherboard serial number is a mid 2010 macbook pro 15 with a i5 cpu. also the battery in it is the original battery from apple, and it only had around 20 cycles when I got it, which is a bit suspicious. Does anyone know why the serial #? might be different? Is my laptop stolen or something?
