Hi

I have inherited a mid 2012 13" MBP with 4GB of DDR3 1600 and also have an old Mid 2010 15" MBP that has 8GB installed.
The ram in the 2010 is clocked a bit slower but they both seem to use 204 pin DDR3 modules.

What are the odds of the 8GB ram in the 2010 working in the 2012? Or would it be safe to just install it & see?
Seems a waste to not re-use these sticks if I can...

Thanks.
Rob

Well I put it in and it was recognised correctly and no issues so far. I maxed out the Ram usage to stress it a bit too. Main reason was so I could install Mojave on it which is running great so far! Happy day's. I'm giving this machine to my daughter as her first MacBook she seems very pleased with it.

Glad it worked. Worse that would have happened is it doesn't boot.

I had ddr3 1066 ram from a 2010 13" MacBook Pro. Put it into a mid-2012 13" MacBook Pro and the ram ran at 1333 at slightly higher latency.
