Mid-2010 MBP crashes - take action!

Microcuts

Dear Mac users,

What is this about?
- A lot of mid-2010 15" MBP owners are suffering from crashes caused by either the graphics card or its drivers.
- Apple has acknowledged there is a problem, offering two years extended warranty for this issue and free replacement of the motherboard. But, only if a service provider can detect the problem.

The problem
- The service providers use a diagnosis tool that fails to detect the error in some cases.
- Many affected machines are now older than two years.

My question
It is evident a lot of people are suffering from this issue (300k+ views at the above Discussions thread, and many more threads exist) and Apple has long failed to provide a decent solution. I know there have been actions taken against Apple for specific hardware issues like this one. My idea is to start a kind of petition to find out how many are affected, gather info, and get it in the press.

How have such things worked in the past and what is the best way to start it?

i think it would be interesting if someone with time would setup a blog to collect testimonials from people with this problem.

something explaining in a few lines the problem with these macbook 2010, and asking for attention from Apple.

and then a list of kernel panics, youtube videos, from people facing the problem.
i've got logs, and i've got video too.

I have been getting the black screen problem when waking from sleep on occasion. I have to press the brightness button to get it to wake.

Mountain Lion, no joy :(

Unfortunately the problem is even worst on mountain lion, kernel panics in NVDARESMAN daily.
