Mid 2010 MBP failed dGPU

Is there anyway to disable the Nvidia dGPU?

Currently the MBP turns on and after a few minutes in OS X switches off, presumably because of overheating/to protect itself.

It's a shame if there's no way to disable it, as it would be useful as a backup.

Hi yes it's a 15" with a GT330m. I saw that thanks but as it's not a kernel panic in my case I'm not sure if it'd work.

Have you tried the software fix? Have you tried removing any dust that may be impeding air flow? Tried replacing thermal paste?

I replaced the c9560 capacitor on my Macbook and replaced the thermal too. The original paste was pretty dry.
