I am possibly getting a Mid 2011 MacBook air 13"... 4GB RAM, 128GB, 1.7GHz Core i5. How does this run Mavericks? How would it do with CS6, mostly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign? How is the battery life on it?

I have the 11 inch, and it runs fine on Mavericks. While I don't use photoshop or illustrator on that machine, I frequently use Spaces to have several desktops running with 4-6 applications at once. Battery life is good, probably 6-8 hours on wifi with screen brightness set to about 50%

I had that model but upgraded to 2013 MBA this summer. I am on an older version of Photoshop but it ran fine. I imagine you will be OK because I also ran Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro on that machine with no issue.

Battery life is definitely less than the new machines, but not bad. I think tgara is about right, although if you run the display at a higher level and do something processor intensive it could be more like 4 or 5 hours.

I was running 10.7 (which was pre-installed in 2011) so I don't know how Mavericks fits into the mix.

I've heard Mavericks has ways it increases battery life, but I haven't had ways to test that since my MacBook's battery has multiple dead cells.

This is just my personal opinion; I feel that the 11" MBA would be too small for running things like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Heck, I have a 13" MB and I even find that a little too small. Since the 2011 MBA's are older isn't the battery life worse than the newer 2012-2013 models?
