Hello

Well, this is very strange.

I have a 2011 Mini (not the one with the notorious Radeon) with High Sierra (500 Gb HDD, 8 GB) and I suddenly got a static screen (alternating with a black screen) yesterday while changing the ethernet cable! The internet was disconnected for some reason so I wanted to check that there was no issue with the cable. And that little act seemed to turn this mini upside down. I had zero problems with it before. It is old but for many, many years I didn't even use it, only started to use it a few months ago.

And now I have tried everything to make it work again without success. Recovery mode gives me the same screen, can't try the Disk Utility, reseting NVRAM doesn't do a thing etc. Apple Diagnostics says everything is ok (I can't do the extended test though because the mouse doesn't move right so I could choose it.)

One thing to do could be to try a MiniDisplay port to see if it worked that way but I'd need an adapter for that.

Any ideas what might have caused this?

Thanks a lot for any thoughts.

Well, the fix wasn't hard. I just started using the MiniDisplay port instead of HDMI. I guess that HDMI port or maybe the adaptor is broken in some way.
