Hey all,

I just bought a new Mid 2011 iMac and had a question about the RAM. I was looking to upgrade to 8gb of RAM from the 4gb. If I buy 4gb from Other World Computing to go with the pre-installed Apple RAM, will I have any problems? I know sometimes mixing and matching RAM vendors can cause problems. Just not sure if it's the same on the new iMacs or not.

Thanks :)

Provided you spec the Mid iMac 2011 when you order the ram you shouldnt have any issues.

Ram is so cheap you should fit 2X4gb in the bottom two slots making 12gb.
I just fitted Ram from Crucial without any problems.
There is no substitute for more Ram.

funnily enough, that's exactly what i did :) my ram will be in on Wednesday! :D

i also own an imac 2011 i5 2.5ghz with 4gb ram, im still very happy with the performance but im also planing in a few months to add some extra ram.
But i will buy 2x4gb ram so i ll be running 8gb ram.
Maybe then in the futre to add the extra 2x2 gb so i ll make it 12gb !

There seems to be something wrong with above.
You have 2x2 =4gb
You buy 2x4 =8gb Total 12gb

Do you intend to only buy 2x2 and not 2x4? If so it is false economy as ram is so cheap go for the 2x4.
There are only 4 slots so you can only add two further ram.
