I know that the 2012 13-inch MBP's are configurable by Apple up to 8 GB of memory. But does anybody know if they are user upgradable to 16 GB of memory?

Wirelessly posted

There is really no difference between last years model and this year. Therefore, it RAM and hard drives should be just as easy to replace. I'd order 3rd party upgraded before the Mac arrived without hesitation (which I did) :)

This was a given, the chances of this it being configurable where very very high it would be odd to see the macbooks take a step backwards from last year.

The question is if they are 32 GB configurable, ram prices drop rapidly knowing if they are 32 GB configurable tell us how future proof these 2012 redesign really are or if they are more a speed bump.

The only reason Apple say 8GB max. is because that's all they themselves will sell you...16GB in an MBP should work perfectly. I have 8 in mine, going to 16GB means selling off the existing modules....The only reason I haven't done it too.

Does the base 13" MBP come with one 4GB ram stick, or two by 2GB? If I purchase one, just curious if I would need to buy another 4GB or two by 4GB.

Thanks.

EDIT: question answered when I went to configure the machine. 2 x 2GB.
