Hi,
About a year ago I purchased the above model MBP as I needed to get used to the Mac Os for work purposes.
It has the 2.9G i7 processor, 16G ram and 480G SSD and runs so well that I've left my windows laptop alone ever since.
But 7 months ago the battery icon permanently said that the battery required servicing, even though the count was around the 400 mark, so I made a mental note that I would have to take the MBP in for a new battery at sometime.
Yesterday I carried out a clean install of Mojave and after reading some posts on this forum I checked my battery status only to find that the warnings have gone. The system report shows the battery as "Normal" once again.
I'm not sure what to make of this. (?)

Regards ...... Stickfly

Is that one a retina model or one of the "non-retina" models (the non-retina had the built in DVD drive)?

If it's a non-retina, the battery is easily removed and changed out for a replacement.

If it's a retina, I believe you can get it changed by the Apple Genius bar for $199 or so.
Worth the money at this point.

It's the non retina with DVD drive.
About £140 ($180) for a new battery over here.
I did buy a battery from a company called replacebase. They said it was from the same factory Apple use but it did not work. They then sent a second battery and that did not work so they refunded my money.
The MBP seems to be fine with the original battery so I'll leave things for the moment.
