Hello!

Three days ago, I purchased a non-retina mid-2012 13" MBP.

Just today, as I was cleaning the screen in broad daylight, I noticed that there are two specs of dust underneath the glass screen.

One is on top of the black bezel while the other is at the top of the screen somewhat to the left of the Facetime camera.

It's mostly imperceptible during normal use and is usually visible on a black screen if one shines a light from the top of the monitor (this illuminates the dust speck).

Should I go to my local Apple store and replace the unit?

What are my chances of getting another "defective" MBP?

Does Apple replace brand new units with refurbished ones?

Do they do the exchange on the spot?

Is this a common problem?

Thank you very much for your help!

That sucks.

If you bought it from the Apple official store, you should be able to get a refund, if not an exchange for a brand new unit (not refurbished).

No, I bought it brand new, unopened from Craigslist.

Will Apple still be able to exchange for a brand new one?

Do they do that on-the-spot?

Thanks!

Hmm, that COULD be a bit tricky. Based on what stories I've seen, you COULD get a replacement, but I think that's more up to the employees.

Anyone one else have experience with this?

I'm heading to the apple store this Thursday to see what can be done about this...
