I want to upgrade my base 15 inch Macbook Pro 2012 model to 16GB of RAM.

I really do not want to buy it online however, and would rather get it at frys.

I found this RAM at frys, and want to make sure it will work with it. I am linking the Newegg page because it has more info:

Also what I have read is that 1.5V is perfectly fine in the pro, especially because the 2x2GB sticks that Apple provides is 1.5V.

Can anyone quickly confirm that this will be okay? I want to upgrade today.... also if someone could let me know the screwdriver type I will need to open this badboy up. Thanks a lot!

let me ask one more thing.... do you think the 16GB is worth it compared to 8GB?

My computer seems to run sluggish at times so I am super hyped on the 16GB, but as I think about it, is it really worth it? or will I experience a big enough difference with 8? (which is half the price)

I have 8 and it has been more than enough for my needs. Only time I use most of the memory is running Parallels. Most of the time I'm only using 3 to 5 gb even with a bunch of apps running.

yeah I have tried reading through a lot of those threads, a lot of them pertain to the retina although I guess it is not much different, I figured the difference woud be big enough to ask....

I mainly use my computer for school work and Photoshop, as well as light gaming like league of legends on my PC side.....

8GB is only 45 compared to 90, so that might be the way to go....

One last question: Do I go with the Patriot or the Samsung, keep in mind the Samsung is 1.35V

Patriot: http://www.frys.com/product/6544743?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Unless you were running out of RAM with 8GB's, 16GB will not make your computer any faster.

I'd get samsung over patriot, I've had bad experience with patriot RAM.
