I don't put much stress on my MacBook Pro. Average about 3-6% CPU usage. It seems to bog down, and it shows me the pin-wheel all the time, even trying to the basics like opening Safari or Chrome. Just browsing the internet, I am at 46 degrees Celsius. This is temp recorded while not charging. Any ideas what could be causing this?

You need an SSD.

46 celcius is quite cool for a laptop, actually. These guys can get up to 105C easily.

Your hard drive is the likely culprit. It is either too full, or dying.

Dying hard drive seems the most likely. if so take the oppurtunity to replce with an SSD and get better than new performance...
