Hi y'all, Im having a hard time finding information on battery replacement information for my mid 2012 mbp. I used the search but the results are showing everything else but what I am looking for. Can I get some assistance please?

Im thinking of replacing my battery myself. Im wondering if its worth buying an after market battery or if I should only get an genuine oem apple batter. Also, looking where the best price to order from is and any installation tips or any other installation steps I need to be aware of.

TIA

Assuming it's the on retina Apple will replace it for $129. If it's the retina you'Ll want Apple to do it because it's glued to the keyboard and trackpad and they replace the whole lot but that's $199.

Other than that ifixit will have all your answers.

This old thread fits this very green guy's basic mid 2012 13" mbp A1278 (purchased new) with a recent SSD added (thanks again for great help from this forum). No other mods. Surfing today, I found various info about battery life, and new-info-to-me about the battery cycle design limit of 1000. Hmmm. Following another thread's guidance, I checked and found the cycle count at 1,860 yet the condition "normal." Yikes! Being in the boonies, I think I'd better have a new battery on hand, and thought it wise to ask for suggestions on a "third" party battery, and if ifixit.com is still a good idea for DIY. Or to just forget about it and keep on plugging?
