I have a mid 2012 Macbook Pro that is unable to see my iPhone 11 that I am attempting to AirDrop to. The iPhone can AirDrop to the Mac without issue, and the Mac briefly sees the iPhone when it is AirDropping to the Mac, but after the operation is completed, it disappears again, from both the AirDrop panel in the Finder sidebar and from the Share to Airdrop dialogue box.
Things I have tried:
- Restarting both devices
- Turning off and then turning on the wifi and bluetooth for both devices
- Ensuring they are both on the same wifi network
- logging out and logging back into my Apple ID on both devices
- deleting the com.Apple.bluetooth.plist file in the /Library/Preferences directory to reset the bluetooth connection configuration on the Mac
- Enabling AirDrop with Everyone on both devices, as well as toggling it on and off on the iPhone
- creating a new user account on the Mac and attempting to AirDrop from the Mac to the iPhone from there
- ensuring both devices have the latest MacOS and iOS updates. The Mac is running 10.15.7 and the iPhone is running iOS 14.4
It's almost as if the Mac is trying to connect to the iPhone, because it does see it and the icon does pop up in the AirDrop pane when I am sending something from the iPhone to the Mac, and if I quickly click on the iPhone name before it disappears I can send something via AirDrop. But it doesn't seem to keep the connection for long, and it disappears quickly after the iPhone is finished AirDropping something to the Mac. I would just like for the Mac to be able to consistently see the iPhone the same way the iPhone does with the Mac.
Does anyone have any other ideas or approaches I could try?
