I got received an 13 inch MBP from an Ebay bid. Everything on this unit worked perfectly, other than the trackpad. The right click function is very spotty when trying to use it. and the left click is mushy. This leads me to believe the trackpad is damaged. I would hate to send this unit back as I got a good deal on it.

My question is who has replaced their trackpad and where did you order your replacement pad from?

ifixit has replacement trackpads, but a lot of them are used. Depending how old the computer is you may be able to order a new on through the Apple store.

Trackpad failure must be common with Mac notebooks because my last two have failed.

It's a 2012 model.

You should be able to get a new one from the Apple store. They have parts for units newer than 2010.

Check with ifixit.com and see if they have new ones in stock. They provide tools to change it out along with instructions.
